First Mother's Day

A year ago on Mother's Day we found out we were pregnant with Zoe, so Mother's Day this year was extra special. I remember the hesitancy we felt in truly celebrating the news. Because of the previous miscarriage, we found it difficult, initially, to really rejoice. Of course, we were happy. But we were cautious, too, and very aware that God could have other plans in mind.

Well, one year later we have a healthy, happy four month old baby girl! Praise God! I am so thankful for his many blessings to us, most especially his blessing to us in our precious daughter! We do not take her for granted.

Uche gave me many wonderful gifts this Mother's Day. First, some breathtakingly beautiful tulips! My favorite! They are truly gorgeous and tulips just about make me happy whenever I see them. Second, a french toast breakfast with fresh strawberries! Another delight! Third, a homemade dinner I have yet to eat (we were too full from lunch so he is cooking tonight). Fourth, a really encouraging card where, among other things, he wrote the most meaningful words a wife and mom can hear from her husband: "I really couldn't have married someone that I trust more to raise our children." WOW! Now that brought tears to my eyes. Thank you, babe.

As if I needed any other gift after that special note, he gave me one more amazing gift. A new camera!!!!! Well, at least...the "a-ok" to go ahead and get a new camera! I have had my eye on a digital SLR camera since before Zoe was born. I've always been interested in photography and I love snapping shots and capturing memories. I've really wanted to grow in my knowledge of photography and develop some skills to take better pictures. I knew that a baby would provide me with adorable ever-present subject matter to practice my skills. Now, those of you who know Uche know that he is not quick to spend money, especially on major purchases. This is yet another reason why me getting a new camera is so exciting! I really appreciate that he would recognize my desire to develop a hobby of sorts and encourage me in it. What a great husband! Thanks for a fantastic Mother's Day, babe!! I love you!
